Wonderful News!

Hey! Remember how I was complaining about how expensive opera is, and how I’d likely never get mine performed…

The Boston Metro Opera‘s international composers’ competition awarded my opera, Diagnosis: Diabetes, with a festival award and the BMO Advocacy Award. As if that wasn’t enough, out of nearly 400 submissions spanning 70 countries on 6 continents, they awarded me their top prize:

GoldMedal

The Gold Medal in Opera!

You can read all the details here, but suffice it to say, I am unbelievably honoured and excited!

As if I were in a dream, the director didn’t hesitate to inform me that Boston is a hotbed of diabetes research and advocacy, and that they’re already working on getting the ‘big guns’ behind me and my opera.  So, in addition to huge bragging rights, this means that my opera will get its world premiere in Boston, to an audience of some of most influential members of the diabetes world.

Thank you so much to the Boston Metro Opera, and to everyone who has supported me on this journey so far!
